What is different about LookNow?

LookNow is a new type of search engine. It finds the best matching sentence on a page, not just the best page. It has rather limited understanding of text, enough to make a difference in search. LookNow merges its results with those from other major search engines. This produces better answers to your searches. McGill University in Canada tested LookNow and confirmed it is more accurate than Google. Our system excels at web search, image search, local search, Wikipedia search and health search.

What does clicking the "web", "health" or another link on that line do?

If you have typed in a query, clicking one of those links carries out that search. Suppose you have some results from a web search and want to use the same query but on images. Press the images link and the image search will be done for you. This makes it much easier for you to search in many ways. If you have not yet typed a query, clicking one of these links changes the search mode, as shown on the search button.

I see a link named with my home city. What does that do?

This link searches for results in or about your city. You can change the city in the city/preferences link. These preferences also let you change the country and the search filter settings.

Why are there never more than 25 replies for text results, 40 for images?

Our users found that if a good text answer was not in the top 25 replies, they did better by changing the wording of the question. They got a good answer quicker that way instead of reading more and more replies to the original question. For images they found 40 was the sensible limit.

My city has the same name as another city in my country. How do I tell LookNow to choose mine?

You can add your state or province or region name to your city and LookNow will use this to choose your city. Here is an example of what you would type as your city preference:

Union City, Georgia

Do you store cookies on my computer? If so, what do you keep in these cookies?

LookNow stores the city, the country and the filter setting in a cookie on your computer. LookNow stores nothing else in its cookie.

What information does LookNow keep in a database about each user?

LookNow keeps no information about individual users in any database.
